Agaricus {CUiocybe) peltigerinus Peck, Ann. Rep. N. Y. State Mus. 30: 38. 1878.
Pileus thin, nearly plane, umbilicate, sub cespitose at times, 4-10 mm. broad; surface glabrous, hygrophanous, brown and striatulate on the margin when moist, whitish or pale-gray when dry: lamellae subdistant, sometimes branched, decurrent, brownish, the interspaces venose: spores ellipsoid, 8 X 5 /x: stipe nearly equal, solid, glabrous, rather firm, paler than the pileus, often with minute white tomentum at the base, 1-2 cm. long, 1-1.5 mm. thick.
Type locality: Oneida, New York. Habitat: Among lichens. Distribution: New York.
