Deep-sea acorn worms have been found in the Pacific and Atlantic (Holland et al. 2005). Observations and collections from remotely operated vehicles operating on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge in the North Atlantic in 2010 suggests that there are several yet to be named species. One of the species typically leaves circular trails of mud. ROV observations have also shown that the worms can swim off the seabed to move around.
