From my trip to Thailand - May 28th - 4th June 2011, most moths were found at the various temples which had metal hallide bulbs fitted to them. The ones labelled 'Hang Dong' came to my 22w Actinic light. Please feel free to help aid identification or correct my proposed identifications.
I was walking the dog and almost bumped into this moth (Idia americalis) on a Redcedar tree. I took several shots using natural light--something I almost never get to do with moths. (I did put a handkerchief up for a little reflector as I got close.) Its posture was odd--wings flat against the bark, but legs extended to prop it up away from the bark at its head. I'm guessing this is somehow more cryptic than a flat-against-the-bark pose.
