Description: Gymnopilus palmicola Murrill Image location: Thonotosassa, Florida, USA “These are immature basidia on gill-sides, interspersed in the hymenium and are usually clavate to cylindric and with brown cell contents. They are erratic in occurrence, but when found we have recorded their presence. Further study may indicate limited taxanomic usefulness, but at present they are not employed to distinguish groups or species.” -Hesler based on that, i am forced to assume that the “hyaline basidioles,” are not basidioles at all. i believe what we may be seeing are the cells composing the sub-hymenium.
