Locomotive form with short blunt digitiform subpseudopdia extending from a narrow anterior hyaline margin. Length of cell commonly from 45 to 100 µm. Floating form with thin radiating pseudopdia. Surface coat with boat-shaped microscales. Always with one or more DNA-rich parasomes (=Nebenkörper) located close to the nucleus. Distinguish from parasome-containing amoebae of the genera Neoparamoeba and Janickina. Marine with single species, P. eilhardi Schaudinn, 1896.
