The water where spawning occurs has a maximum depth of 15cm and thick vegetation (Ref.1672).

Inhabits quiet forest streams with slow-flowing acidic water (Ref. 85309). Feeds on worms and small crustaceans (Ref. 7020). One of the world's smallest cyprinid species.
