The dark spots on the leaves are a distinctive feature, although they are not always quite so prominent as they appear in this photograph. This is a common, native species, shown here growing beside the footpath / cycle route that crosses this field. It is a member of the family Polygonaceae (the Dock Family, also containing bistorts, knotgrasses, etc.; these plants have distinctive sheath-like "ochreae" above the joints of the stem). Compare:
