Brief Summary

provided by Ecomare
Common milkwort is a small plant with small flowers, especially those plants found in the wadden region. In the Netherlands, it grows in the dunes, in light areas in woods, along sandy roads and on calcium-rich grasslands, such as found in South Limburg. However, it is declining rapidly and therefore has been placed on the Red List. Common milkwort often grows in similar conditions and environment as other rare plants, such as green-winged and fragrant orchids. If you find one, you're likely to find the other. The name comes from its presumed ability to increase the flow of nursing mother's milk.
