Description

Shrub or small tree with drooping branches. Stipules leaf-like. Leaves opposite, lanceolate, grey-green above and with a typically wrinkled appearance (reminiscent of the cultivated Sage, Salvia officinalis L., from which the species name is derived), greyish white below. Flowers in large terminal, pyramidal heads, creamy white, lilac or purple; sweetly scented. Fruit an ovoid capsule, 4-5 mm long, protruding about halfway from the persistent calyx.
