It is a perennial herb with aerial, erect,  hollow,  and glabrous stems. The subterranean tuber is subglobose. Leaves are 2- to 3-ternate with  ovate, obovate or subcordate leaflets. Flowers are yellow and arranged in richly branched panicles. The fruit is a subglobose, and 1-seeded capsule.
