Lifespan, longevity, and ageing
provided by AnAge articles
Maximum longevity: 5 years (captivity)
Observations: These animals show a clear ageing phenotype with increasing mortality with age. In one study in captivity, most long-lived animals were found to be males. With age they became large, pale, bloated, and dull in movement (Egami 1971).
