Daphne sericea is a common evergreen shrub in the Taurus mountain region. The flowers are nicely fragrant. In April it is almost the only blooming shrub.
This interesting perennial belongs to the Thymelaeaceae family. Many of these species are used for road production. This one was fround in a sansy plain N of Ceres, 950m.
this shrub is used for ropes by the local bedouins. The branches are torn and longitudinal strips are formed, these are twisted to form the rope. Here you can see a branch of a male bush (see the anthers in the flowers).
