Malvern Hills (Worcs / Herefordshire Border) I was amazed to see two Red-billed Choughs on British Camp Hill in Saturday 27th July '19. This is only a second record for both Worcestershire (1836 in Tenbury Wells) and Herefordshire. I did not have my camera! Not wanting to add to the mayhem by returning...here is one I photographed in Islay, Scotland, in it's usual coastal habitat. 2nd Photo by Michael Colquhoun (Herefordshire Bird Recorder) on Herefordshire Beacon.

An interesting historic illustration from the voluminous Pacific Railroad Surveys (1850's). These, and the similar Mexican Boundary Survey publications have a number of hand-colored lithographs of birds. The artists and lithographers were not credited, but the zoological works were produced under the editorship of Spencer Fullerton Baird.
