A rather large spotted Kassina (males 38.5-42.2 mm) from Zanzibar. The eyes are very large and protruding. Tips of digits extremely flattened. No red patches on the side of lower abdomen and hind limbs. The dorsum is covered by black to slate-grey blotches separated by thin pale grey lines.Updated by A. Schiøtz, 2008.

Distribution and Habitat

Occurs in Zanzibar, on Unguja Island. The holotype was collected at 50m asl (IUCN 2006). Known only from flooded pools at the edge of Jozani Forest.

The voice is quiet, pulsed, and low pitched with a rising pitch, audibly different from the calls of K. senegalensis and K. maculata. A sonogram has been published in Msuya et al. (2006).
