Description:
Endemic genus of 7 species (at least 3 extinct) from the Hawaiian Islands; this species endemic to dry forest of the Big Island of Hawaii. Extinct in wild since 1992. Apparently 22 plants currently exist in outplantings in Puu Waa Waa and botanical gardens. 2 trees at this garden. Endangered.
