Endemic genus to Hawaiian Islands; this species endemic to dry forest of the Big Island of Hawaii. Extinct in wild since 1992. Apparently 22 plants currently exist in outplantings in Puu WaaWaa and botanical gardens. 2 trees at this garden. Tree in this photo 2.5m in height. Endangered.
