Endemic to the SE portion of the Big Island. Part of the Lobelioid group of plants, endemic to the Hawaiian Islands and comprised of 7 genera (6 of which are endemic) and around 110 species. Elevation around 4000ft/1220m. Photo shows flower 2 days after it opened.
