Description:
Urocentrum (your-owe-sent-rum) is a peniculine ciliate related to Paramecium. It is rather barrel shaped, with cilia forming a band around the centre of the cell. With a small mouth located about half way along the cell, and with a caudal tuft of cilia. Like Paramecium it has trichocysts and a contractile vacuole with radiating collecting canals. Phase contrast.
