Description:
Widely distributed in Tropical Asia and Australia, Lagerstroemia speciosa is highly tolerant to drought and cold weather. It is highly valuable for its hard, reddish and shinywood. Flowers are bisexual, colour of which varies from pink to purple. Corolla is made up of six petals with wavy and irregular toothed margins. Flowers cluster in large terminal panicles are beautiful and attractive. This photo was taken in the Po Lin Monastery here in Hong Kong.
