Egg cowrie - Ovula ovum

Description:
These sea snails have a snow white shell, which is covered by a black mantle that you can see in this photo. If the cowrie is disturbed it can retract these skin flaps into the underside of the shell, exposing the white. You can see a faint white slit at the top of the animal; this is where the two halves of the mantle meet.
