Description:

Staurastrum polonicum RACIB. The cells are up to 1.4 times longer than wide. The cell halves are rounded off sexangular in shape with bulged out sides and broadly truncated vertex. Around the basis of the cell halves there is a ring of tiny spherical calottes. The central cuts are far opened towards the periphery. The vertex view is circular with 8 to 9 shallow waves. Another ring of such bulges leads around the vertex center. The cell wall is closely covered by tiny warts. Dimension: Length 60 – 65 µm, width 45 – 50 µm.Ecology: In little acidic fens and siltation zones.Occurrence: Ubiquitous.Copyright by Prof. Rupert Lenzenweger, Ried im Innkreis, Austria. Place name: n. a. Latitude: 0 Longitude: 0 Die Zellen sind bis etwa 1,4 mal so lang wie breit. Die Zellhälften sind abgerundet sechseckig mit vorgewölbten Seiten und breit abgestutztem Scheitel. Rund um die Basis der Zellhälften ein Ring runder Erhebungen. Die Mitteleinschnitte sind nach außen weit geöffnet. Die Scheitelansicht ist kreisrund mit 8 bis 9 flacher Wellen, ein weiterer Ring solcher Wülste verläuft rund um die Scheitelmitte. Die Zellwand ist mit dicht mit kleinen Warzen besetzt. Dimensionen: Länge 60 – 65µm, Breite 45 – 50 µm.Ökologie: In schwach sauren Moorgewässern und Verlandungszonen von Seen.Verbreitung: Weltweit.
