It belongs to the family Leiothrichidae, which are called laughingthrushes and show greatest diversity in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Babblers belong to the genus Turdoides, which has 19 species. They are easily recognised by their raucous laughter-like sounds, as they forage together in a noisy group.
