Cochlospermum planchonii est l'une des plantes préférées du bétail dans les pâturages au Benin. La racine permet d'extraire de la teinture jaune afin de teindre les pagnes. Les fibres de la plante servent encore à la confection de cordes, autour du parc national de la pendjari. L'écorce de la racine sert au Nigeria dans le traitement de certains ulcères. English: This plant also bears the vernacular name of "false cotton", because the fruits are ovoid capsules resembling those of the cotton plant, containing black seeds covered with long whitish hairs. This wild plant flowers during the rainy season unlike the neighboring species Cochlospermum tinctorium which flowers during the dry season after the fire. Cochlospermum planchonii is one of the favorite plants of cattle on pastures in Benin. The root extracts yellow dye to dye the loincloths.
