Description:
Description: A pet deer at the Veddah village outside the chief’s house. The Veddahs (Hunters) are thought to have arrived in Sri Lanka 18,000 years ago. Today there are about 2,500 Veddahs. They no longer hunt for food as that is prohibited by the government. We see just a handful of Veddahs, all men. On Google Earth: Veddah village 7°24'39.56"N, 81° 6'54.42"E.
