Widespread and common on the Plains and extending onto the Slopes; also found on the Coast. Often in disturbed or wetter areas, except on the coast. Occurs on a range of soil types, but especially heavy clays and alluvial soils. Regarded as an important and valuable forage of the floodplains. This sample has hayed off in summer due to drought.
