Image of Silvereye

Description:

Description: Silvereye in a cotoneaster shrub. This Tasmanian species is a tiny bird (only about 12cm long) found in Australia, New Zealand and some south-western Pacific countries. They migrate annually across Bass Strait from Tasmania to the Australian mainland and it is thought that the NZ population originated from a flock that was blown off-course during the 1830s. Date: 5 December 2011, 11:08. Source: Silvereye or Tauhou. Author: Sid Mosdell from New Zealand.
