Description: meadow paintbrush, Castilleja miniata subsp. miniata, California, White Mountains, Marble Creek, Hammil Valley - Owens Valley drainage, elevation 1730 m (5670 ft). This species is common and widespread in mid to high elevation riparian areas and meadows throughout the western half of North America. Also visible here are wiregrass (Juncus balticus subsp. ater), Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis subsp. pratensis), and white sweetclover (Melilotus albus). Date: 29 May 2016, 12:18.
