Blue Tiger and Dark Blue Tiger Identification keys (3648983991)

Image of Tirumala septentrionis

Description:

Description: BLUE TIGER (Tirumala limniace) and DARK BLUE TIGER (Tirumala septentrionis) are two similar species of butterflies which are equally common in this part of the country(kerala) though the population of one particular species might vary according to the season. These species are wrongly identified even by the experts, one of the popular books in malayalam has a Dark blue tiger picture instead of a Blue tiger and a recent article in a popular malayalam periodical had the same mistake again to confess I had made a lot of mistakes regarding this and guess stand corrected now see the four comparison pics and the differentiation is as simple as that! Thanks to Dr Krushnamegh Kunte who shared the "keys"; during our recent edamalayar mannavanshola trip. Date: 22 June 2009, 10:33. Source: Blue Tiger and Dark Blue Tiger Identification keys.
