Description:

Description: English: (1 in a multiple picture set) I spotted a couple of these curious looking ducks among the hundreds of more common species at the Ford Park ponds when I was working on a group picture I took last week. So I went back to the ponds this Sunday to try to capture a picture of what I found out was a Hooded Merganser. They are difficult to photograph because they are skittish and keep swimming away from wherever I stood. They also swim quite fast as you can see by the bubbles and wake behind its rapidly paddling feet. I understand they prefer to each fish, but will also feed on the pond weeds.
