Description: The Greater Spotted Eagle is a large bird of prey with a range much of Europe and Asia. Almost 70 cm in height and around 2-2.5 kgs in weight, this is a formidable predator. I had seen it before couple of times in Binoculars, but never this close. The bird was near a marsh's edge and perched on an electric pole overlooking some paddy fields. There were several lapwings and few ducks that the bird was eyeing. It made a couple of attempts all of which were unsuccessful. In between there was this drama between Drongoes and the Eagle. The Drongoes clearly didn't want it, but were too small to attack it. So they dived and continually irritated the eagle for quite a while who took it in its stride. After a while, the Drongoes gave up while the Eagle took off. Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.
