Both the smaller oysters are open, the larger at the top still holds the oyster. The smallest oyster sits between the one and the barnacle, it is empty. In the middle of the top of the shell are dark dots with threads. Those are the holdfasts of an algae (wrack) that was attached to the oyster. The oyster was picked in Brofjorden, close to the shore at Sandvik, Lysekil Municipality, Sweden, about two hours before it was photographed.
