A particularly good example of this species, with large fruiting bodies, this specimen shows the so-called perithecial stage on the right-hand side; see also 1009633. Their cinnabar-red colour gives the species its name. The earlier pink conidial stage is shown here: 1091903 (see that item for more information). Reference works do not mention the orange-yellow pustules, but they seem to be just an intermediate stage.
