Stems are terete or weakly 4-ribbed; appressed-pubescent with stiff hairs. Leaves are nearly sessile, decussate, lanceolate to narrow-elliptic or rarely ovate, usually 5–15 mm long and 2–5 mm wide; margins are thickened and toothed. Flowerheads are spike-like.
