Description: Deutsch: Vielwurzelige Teichlinse (Spirodela polyrhiza), eine freischwimmende Blattpflanze, die bis zu 150 Zentimeter tiefe stehende Gewässer besiedelt. Die Pflanzen mit etwa 4 bis 7 Millimeter breiten rundlichen Sprossen kann ihre Menge zwischen 20 Stunden und 2 Tagen verdoppeln und eine dichte Wasseroberfläche bilden. Der dazwischen liegende Wassersalat (Pista stratiotes) ist ebenfalls eine Schwimmpflanze. Simple English: Giant duckweed, greater duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza), a free-swimming leaf plant that colonizes stagnant water up to 150 centimeters deep. The plant with roundish shoots about 4 to 7 millimeters wide can double its amount between 20 hours and 2 days and form a dense water surface.
