Twinig herbs, branches trailing or straggling, distinct by stinging hairs, Leaves elliptic, lanceolate, entire or lobed, serrate, acute; Flowers greenish yellow in axillary androgynous spikes;calyx 3-5 in male flowers, 6 in female flowers, lobees enlarged, hardened and spreading stellately in fruit, petals 0, stamens 3, ovary 3 celled, styles united into a clumn and spreading above; Capsule sub globose, 3 lobed with accrescent perianth.
