Ashfall Fossil Beds - Teleoceras and Cormohipparion
Description:
Description: English: Ashfall Fossil Beds in Antelope County, Nebraska. According to nearby signs, the "1" marker is on a young adult Teleoceras major, nicknamed "Tusker"; its estimated age is 8-9 years, with wisdom teeth beginning to come in; the femur across its face (near the bottom of the photo) was probably taken from a neighboring carcass by a large predator. The "2" marker is on the remains of a three-toed horse, Cormohipparion occidentale. Date: 9 September 2012, 14:26:00. Source: Own work. Author: Ammodramus.
