Description: English: One of the well-known species of the genus Coelogynea is Coelogyne pandurata lindl or black orchids. Black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata) is an orchid speciea that grows in the Malay Peninsula, Kalimantan and Sumatra. Black Orchid is used as the mascot of the flora of East Kalimantan Province. Based on its habitat, this orchid is classified as an epiphytic orchid and based on its type of growth is a sympodial orchid. Coelogine has fresh green leaves that last long time (evergreen) so it looks beautiful even without flowers. Coelogyne differs in number and size. The flower stalk has a length of 30-40 cm with 6-14 flowers with a diameter of 7 cm. Light green sepals and petals with black lips in the middle and white on the Gnostostium. Large white labellum surface. Flowers can bloom for 5-6 days. This type of orchid is easily planted in pots with a mixture of charcoal and fern media or taped to fern slabs / spindles. Based on Government regulation number 7 of 1999 black orchid is one of the plants protected in Indonesia because it is threatened with extinction in its natural habitat caused by forest and land fires and the decreasing area of ​​the forest area.
