Geoduck Farm on Hartstine Island

Image of Pacific Geoduck

Description:

Description: These are pvc tubes used on a commercial geoduck farm. Tubes are driven into the sand, each containing a geoduck. Because of the market value for geoducks (some worth over $100.00 each), there are many farms being developed. They are very controversial. This photo taken on Hartstine Island. Located in south Puget Sound, about 75 miles southwest of Seattle, Washington. Date: 23 May 2004, 12:38. Source: Geoduck Farm on Hartstine Island. Author: Jeff.
