Castor fiber bite marks on Populus nigra (and Hedera helix) (4809' N 1657' E)

2011-12-17 Lower Austria, district Bruck/Leitha - near Roethelstein ruin, Danube National Park (140 msm Quadrant 7867/2).See also remarks here - same place a couple of weeks earlier: meanwhile, beavers felled one tree and continued work on the other ones; only the one protected by wire mesh (which is pretty much pointless in any case) didn't suffer further.
