CN: [Malay - Rumput parit, Rumput padang], Carpet grass, Blanket grass, Broad-leaf carpet grass, Lawn grass, Louisiana grass, Tropical carpet grass. Erosion control, lawn/turf, forage, weed.Stem, creeping by stolons producing leafy turfs 15-160 cm high and rooting at the nodes which bear hairs up to 2 mm long. Leaf blade often crinkled along the whole length, edges parallel for half of the length of the blade, hairy all over. Ligule fine membranous,; pale chevrons at the base of the blade. Very fine short hairs on margin of the blade base. Inflorescence of usually two 1-sided spikes 5-10 cm long, sometimes another one lower down. Spikelet green, alternate on either side of the flattened rachis, not overlapping, pressed close to the narrow axis of the spike in two rows. Spikelet elliptical, green or purple, each with a sterile lower floret and upper bisexual one; lower empty glume absent; upper glume with distinct green veins.Synonyms:Axonopus compressus (Sw.)
