Very fine short hairs on margin of the blade base. Inflorescence of usually two 1-sided spikes 5-10 cm long, sometimes another one lower down. Spikelet green, alternate on either side of the flattened rachis, not overlapping, pressed close to the narrow axis of the spike in two rows.
