Description:
Sungai Pau, Sik, Kedah, Malaysia. Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl. A Thymelaeaceae. CN: Simalakama, Mahkota dewa, Makuto rojo, Obat dewa, Gaharu puk-puk, "Crown of God". The fruit is highly poisonous but has been claimed a remedy to various illnesses; from diabetes to rheumatism and cancer. The fruit has to be processed for the purpose and should not be eaten raw. In the native range of Irian Jaya/Papua New Guinea, the fruits are never consumed in any way since the natives are aware of its danger.
