Jatropha macrophylla - scape

Image of Jatropha macrophylla Pax & K. Hoffm.

Description:

Jatropha scaposa or J. macrophylla. Plants look like J. scaposa (scape-like inflorescence, like in the picture) in the dry season and turn into J. macrophylla in the rainy season. My conclusion is that J. scaposa is the dry season form of J. macrophylla (the older name). Both species are conspecific and, in that case, the correct name is J. macrophylla. Mecufi district in Mozambique.
