Old wife - Enoplosus armatus

Image of Enoplosus

Description:

The "old wife" is the only remaining species in it's family; all of it's closest relatives are now fossils. It is endemic to southern waters of Australia and often found in schools. The unfortunate common name refers to the sound it makes when caught; it sounds like the grinding teeth of an old wife. Who thought of that one?!?
