Pendang, Kedah, Malaysia.Licuala spinosa Thunb. Arecaceae. CN: [Malay - Palas duri], Mangrove fan palm, Spiny Licuala. Native to India (Andaman and Nicobar), Indo-China (Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam), Malesia (Indonesia - Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra; Malaysia; Philippines). clumping fan palm to 6 m tall. Habitat - damp open sites, slightly swampy ground, lowland alluvial forest, peat and mangrove swamp forest, beach forest, primary forest. Water Loving Palm found in coastal areas.; also cultivated in villages.
