2008.08.24: Austria, Vienna XXII. district, 154 m AMSL, heath (Lobau Heisslnde): flower close-up.Flowering from august till november (rarely in february/march); at this time the plant does not grow any green leaves, the fresh growth of spring is long gone.In some regions almost extinct (effectively eradicated by farmers on pastures as it is poisonous for livestock), but else quite common.All parts of the plant (flower, leaves, seeds) are a potent poison and dangerous even for man (especially children).German name: Herbstzeitlose.
