Impatiens parviflora + Impatiens noli-tangere (4811' N 1604' E)
Description:
2011-04-16 Lower Austria, district Wien-Umgebung (mixed forest; 400 msm Quadrant 7862/1).Many thanks to Gerlinde Fischer of identifying them for us on the excursion led by her husband. The difference really is obvious if you've once remembered them; those are the only three species of Impatiens here in Austria (of which only I. noli-tangere is native). To the right, in the foreground, you see I. parviflora - smallish in all respects compared to I. noli-tangere (to the left, background); also, the difference in colour is clearly recognisable. Click also below, in comments, photos of those two species plus I. glandulifera for comparison.
