Bornean Bristlehead
Description:
Historical illustration of the Bornean Bristlehead, Pityriasis gymnocephala, from Temminck's Nouveau recueil de planches coloriees d'oiseaux, plate 572. This is the only member of its family and a Bornean endemic. I saw this on the BHL photostream (original at BHL) and cleaned it up quite a bit to remove background yellowing and print smudges. The result was worth sharing, I think. Artist/engraver is Jean Gabriel Prtre (1780-1845).
