Multi layer image (DOF)
Description:
Trichodina pediculus trapped by the Suctor Podophrya. There were lots of suctorial specimen in the Petri dish attached on red alga filaments. A number of them had captured prey. In every case Trichodina was the prey.
Collected from Bodden, the brackish waters lying between the isles of Hiddensee and Ruegen (German Baltic Sea). This image was taken using Zeiss Universal with Olympus C7070 CCD camera.
