Description:

Chattonella (shat-on-ella) is one of the small handful of genera making up the raphidophytes. These are stramenopiles with many small disc shaped chloroplasts that contain chlorophylls a and c, although they often seem top be quite green. This is a flagellated cell and the anterior flagellum can be seen at the anterior end of the cell. The large grey area in the anterior /centre of the cell is where the nucleus is located.
