A glabrous tree sometimes attaining a height of 24 m.; leaves 5.5-10 dm. long, the rachis more or less grooved above, wingless; leaflets oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 7-15 cm. long, 1.5-3.5 cm. broad, short-petioluled or subsessile, acuminate at the apex, obtuse or truncate and sometimes more or less cordate at the base, glabrous on both surfaces, the margin minutely crenulate ; panicles large ; sepals'oblong-lanceolate, 3.4-4 mm. long, 1-1.5 mm. broad, acutish ; petals obovate to elliptic, 4-5 mm. long, 1.5-2.5 mm. broad ; filaments with rudimentary basal appendages or none; fruit obovate, 2-3 cm. long, 1.5-1.7 cm. broad, the body teretish or angled ; seeds 8-12 mm. long, 3-grooved.
Type locality : Mountains of Jamaica.
Distribution : Jamaica.
